1961 Magnatone Custom 260 amplifier in excellent condition. It has the 2 original 12″ Oxford speakers which date to late 1960 and is 35w. The pots and transformers also date to late 1960, it also has most of the original Estey tubes. The only non-original parts are the handle, Wheels and power cord. (we changed it from a 2-pin to a 3-pin. It comes supplied with a 110V / step down transformer. Serial number: 1200. The amp has been fully checked over by our tech here at the showroom and given a clean bill of health. It’s had a 3 pin power cord comes with 30-days warranty.
Magnatones from this series are famed for their amazing vibrato circuit. This amp has a super warm, deep tone with killer sounding overdrive when turned up. The dual 5881 tubes deliver punchy, powerful and responsive lows together with chimey highs. When it’s cranked it breaks up really nicely. The amp itself is very clean, with only a few scuffs in the amp covering and some small dings around the corners. The grille cloth is fully intact and clean. Great amp for gigging, recording, or just using at home.
The 260 was one of Magnatone’s premium amplifiers of the late 1950s /early ’60s. It is a two channel 94 input) amp, each channel using a 12AX7 gain stage followed by “volume”, “treble”, and “bass” controls in a Baxandall arrangement. A four varistor F.M.Vibrato circuit is used. Channel 1 has the “Mellow – Normal” switch and channel 2 the “Normal – Bright” switch.
